The Center distributes more than 100 holiday turkeys in Apache Junction

On a chilly Wednesday morning Dec. 16, a large group of community volunteers, students and staff members gathered in Empowerment Systems’ back parking lot at 2066 W. Apache Trail to bag and distribute fresh produce provided by the United Food Bank.

The monthly Healthy Harvest Free Fresh Produce event was combined with Empowerment Systems’ annual holiday turkey raffle. I am pleased to announce more than a hundred turkeys were distributed to qualified financially challenged local families.

The free turkey raffle was made possible through donations to the Empowerment For Life Foundation, a qualifying charitable organization for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit program. We want to express huge thanks to the Superstition Mountain Rotary Club and Empowerment Systems board members, staff, students and volunteers for their generous donations. We would also like to send many thanks to Winco Foods and its staff for their excellent customer service to help make this happen. Centrally located on Apache Trail, Empowerment Systems is a nonprofit outreach, health education and wellness organization that operates the Greater Valley Area Health Education Center, The Arizona Living Well Institute, The Arizona Coalition For Military Families and the Center, A Place For Health and Wellness.
