Weekend Traffic Advisory – Oct. 9-12

Freeway-improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (Oct. 9-12). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

· Southbound Interstate 17 closed between Camelback and Thomas roads from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 10) for pavement-repair work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider other southbound alternate routes, including southbound State Route 51. Freeway traffic will detour along southbound frontage road.

· Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between McDowell and Gilbert roads in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 12) for widening project work, including traffic switch. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider alternate routes, including westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Other westbound routes include McDowell Road.

· Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed overnight at Via De Ventura in Scottsdale area from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 11) for freeway-widening project. DETOUR: Traffic will detour along off- and on-ramps at Via De Ventura. Please consider alternate routes.

· Northbound Interstate 17 off- and on-ramps at Adams Street and southbound I-17 off-ramp at Jefferson Street west of downtown Phoenix closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 12) for improvement project. I-17 frontage roads also closed in both directions between Van Buren and Grant streets. Westbound Adams Street closed between 19th Avenue and I-17. Eastbound Jefferson Street closed between 27th Avenue and I-17. DETOUR: Please plan ahead and use alternate routes, including other nearby I-17 ramps. Local traffic can also use Van Buren Street or Buckeye Road.

Eastbound Loop 101 HOV lane closed between Cave Creek Road and SR 51. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Westbound Loop 101 traffic can detour to southbound SR 51 and use westbound Union Hills Drive or Bell Road to northbound Cave Creek Road to reconnect with Loop 101.

· Northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed overnight from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for elevated ramp construction. DETOUR: Consider exiting northbound SR 51 to westbound Union Hills Drive and using northbound Cave Creek Road to connect with Loop 101.

· Southbound Interstate 17 closed between Northern Avenue and Bethany Home Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 3) for pavement-improvement work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider other nearby southbound alternate routes. Freeway traffic will detour along southbound frontage road.

· Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Loop 101 and Gilbert Road in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for rubberized asphalt paving. Both Loop 101 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 also closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider alternate routes, including eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). · Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Cactus Road and 90th Street from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) for widening project. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.

· US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane in both directions overnight between Signal Butte Road and Ironwood Drive from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday and Monday nights (Oct. 4-5) for lane striping. Expect ramp closures at Signal Butte Road. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and be prepared to use ramps at other nearby interchanges.

· Interstate 17 interchange at Grant Street west of downtown Phoenix restricted with lane closures along frontage roads and freeway ramps from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) for improvement project. DETOUR: Avoid area if possible. Please consider using ramps at other nearby interchanges, including Jefferson and Adams streets.

DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Westbound Loop 202 drivers exiting at Val Vista Drive or McDowell Road can consider using westbound McKellips Road and University Drive as alternate routes. Please allow extra travel time.

Northbound Interstate 17 closed overnight at Bell Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 26) for sign work and freeway maintenance. DETOUR: Northbound I-17 traffic will detour along frontage road. Please consider adjusting travel schedule or allow extra travel time in area.

Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) off- and on-ramps at Thomas Road will close for 60 days starting at 10 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 27) for reconstruction as part of freeway-widening project. DETOUR: Please consider using southbound off- and on-ramps at nearby interchanges, including Indian School and McDowell roads.

Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight between Williams Field and Gilbert roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 19) for lane-marker installation. On- and off-ramps in area closed at times. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight between Mill Avenue and I-10 from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 20) for lane-marker installation. Grand Avenue (US 60) closed in both directions between R.H. Johnson Boulevard and Loop 303 from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 13) for bridge work. DETOUR: Traffic will primarily detour along Loop 303 and Bell Road. Please allow extra travel time.

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Chaparral and Indian Bend roads from 1 a.m. and noon Sunday (Sept. 13) for widening project.
