Police tribute band performs Oct. 2 during Eastmark Home Tour weekend

The band considered to be one of the most authentic Police tribute bands in the world is scheduled to perform at Eastmark’s First Friday Concert Series on Oct. 2.

The Police Experience performs 6:30-9 p.m. at The Eastmark Great Park, 10100 E. Ray Road in Mesa. The Police were one of the top bands in the 1980s.

A food truck line up will include the flavors of Latin America from L.A. Roots, a variety of grilled burgers from Burgers Amore, delicious pizza from Charred Woodfired Pizza and ice cream from The Neighborhood Treatery.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase for those 21 and over and proceeds will benefit Save the Family. Cash and credit cards accepted.

Those who attend are asked to bring blankets, jackets, low-back chairs and picnic baskets. For general safety concerns, Eastmark requests that guests to please leave dogs at home.

Sheriff’s office: Shoplifting suspect, 16, found after fleeing parent’s home, crashing car

James Herbert, 16, of Gold Canyon is in the custody of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office after leading deputies on a high-speed chase July 30 on U.S. Highway 60 near Silly Mountain Road and being found later at a friend’s home, according to a press release.

He will face charges of felony flight and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the sheriff’s office.
Shortly after 3 a.m. July 30, the sheriff’s office received a call from a Gold Canyon woman reporting that her son, Mr. Herbert, was intoxicated and had just taken her blue Chevy Cobalt sedan from her home in the 18000 block of Azul Court without her permission, according to the release.

The mother told deputies she had picked up her son from Wal-Mart after he was caught shoplifting and they had only been home a short time, according to the release.

Apache Junction police to distribute free gun locks June 20

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20, the Apache Junction Police Department and Superstition Fire and Medical District will have a table at the Apache Junction Multi-generational Center, 1035 N. Idaho Road, to hand out gun locks and gun safety information.
