Apache Junction Parks and Recreation is now accepting teams and individual players to participate in its senior softball leagues. The city offers leagues for teams with players ages 70 and over on Mondays and teams with players ages 60 and over on Thursdays. Games start early January.

Registration per team is $350 if paid on Nov. 12 and $390 if paid after Nov. 12.

There will be an organizational meeting for the manager of each team at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Brookdale Apache Junction Senior Living, 2080 S. Ironwood Drive, to kick off the registrations and discuss details of the leagues. Brookdale will provide refreshments for team managers at this meeting, according to a press release.

Active men and women ages 60 and older who like slow pitch softball but having a hard time finding a team can participate in a drop-in senior softball program being offered by the parks and recreation department.

It will meet 10 a.m.-noon on Thursdays from Jan. 7 through March 10 on field No. 4 at Prospector Park, 3015 N. Idaho Road. The program will cost $2 per person per week. Registrations are accepted in the parks and recreation office, online or on-site at Prospector Park during the program.
