Officials at the Apache Junction Police Department are looking for volunteers to serve in the victim services program.

These volunteers can assist by providing resource information, transportation, personal assistance and empathetic listening, according to the city of Apache Junction website.

Members may respond to crisis situations at a crime scene, in the home or at the hospital. At times children are the victims and volunteers are called to assist them as well.

This is an ideal volunteer experience for students of sociology, psychology, social work or criminal justice.

The Apache Junction Independent is mailed each month to 35,000 homes.
