Rizzi: Join me in supporting Braden Biggs and Gilbert Cancio for school board

The following is why I support Braden Biggs and Gilbert Cancio for Apache Junction Unified School District board.

Christa Rizzi

Braden Biggs grew up in Apache Junction and has graduated from AJUSD. He has submerged himself in this community, making essential connections throughout.

He’s connected with parents, business owners, students, staff and community members of all ages to have a better understanding of issues and concerns.

Braden has planned to run for school board and in that plan he’s taken many steps to prepare for serving in a manner that makes him ready on day one. He’s attended almost every school board meeting for the past two years, keeping up with important issues and has volunteered on school district committees.

He has also served on a variety of local boards giving him essential experience in overseeing organizational budgets, interviewing, hiring, evaluating organizational leaders and working as a team player.

Braden makes listening to all parties a priority when making decisions which sometimes means setting aside his own personal wants. He’s taken the time to attend a variety of community meetings and has gone door to door throughout Gold Canyon and Apache Junction in an effort to connect and listen to the people our school district serves.

He has a well-rounded knowledge and perspective of the issues along with suggestions, ideas and solutions to bring to the table. All of these things give Braden an essential edge as a school board candidate who would not have a learning curve if elected.

He’s shown that he has the time and has invested himself to become a well-prepared, team-playing school board member who will work hard with others to keep AJUSD moving forward.

Gilbert Cancio has lived in Apache Junction for 15 years and has two grandchildren attending the AJUSD district. Over the years Gilbert has watched the student enrollment, number of long-term experienced educators and letter grade of the district decline.

He wants to bring his education, knowledge, leadership and experience to help make AJUSD a top-rated school district for our students. He has an extensive background in finance management and is well-educated with a masters, bachelors and associates degree along with a certificate in organization management.

As a major in the Marines and working 23 years in the Arizona corrections system, Gilbert well understands the need for quality education and programs that our school district needs to set our students on a path of success.

Gilbert serves on the Pinal County merit commission and has a great understanding of connecting with employees and parents to include their input in decision making. He has attended school board meetings, has spent much time interacting with residents throughout Apache Junction and Gold Canyon to listen and gain a better understanding of the community’s concerns.

Retired from two distinguished careers, Gilbert Cancio has the time to invest in being a proactive, engaged and effective member of the school board who will bring essential leadership experience, maturity, knowledge and professionalism to help improve the education for our students.

When considering candidates for the AJUSD school board, experience matters and diversity is important. Please join me in supporting Braden Biggs and Gilbert Cancio for AJUSD school board.
