Reveles: Apache Junction Mayor Serdy continues lusting after Gold Canyon’s assets

By seeking to corral volunteers from Gold Canyon organizations, businesses and home owner associations, AJ’s Mayor Jeff Serdy is unashamedly trying to annex Gold Canyon without putting annexation on the ballot.

His manipulative move for a “collaborative group” is an ill-concealed power play, setting up so-called “volunteers” to “serve as the voice of the community.”

If the Apache Junction mayor truly wants “to ensure every part of Gold Canyon is represented” on regional issues, he should be out here calling for incorporation of Gold Canyon — a goal which Apache Junction has opposed in the past — and a decision that only Gold Canyon can make for itself.

Sorry mayor, Gold Canyon residents see through your blatant power play. Given the opportunity to do so, our community will reject annexation to Apache Junction.

In the interest of transparency, Mayor Serdy, I challenge you to place your annexation goal on the ballot.
