Shop local, save with Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce discount card

As many are aware, business can be a bit of a struggle during the summer months once all of the seasonal visitors have vacated our community. This has a significant and negative effect on many businesses within our community, causing some to close for the summer and others to be forced out of business. Some of the local residents residing within the area will often go to the surrounding metropolitan regions for dining, entertainment and services. The Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce has identified the need to get our locals shopping locally again and circulating money back into our economy. We have created a new program that incentivizes local consumers to support our local businesses and economy. We’re hopeful the Apache Junction Chamber Shop Local discount card program will encourage supporting local businesses.

Businesses that participate in the Shop Local Program can choose to offer a 10 percent, 15 percent or 20 percent discount to consumers who present a Shop Local discount card. Consumers can receive a card by simply going to the Apache Junction Chamber and providing a valid e-mail address. We will send out a weekly e-mail that includes a list of all businesses that are currently participating. As we anticipate the program to grow throughout the summer, the list will continue to expand. We will also have featured businesses of the week starting in June. The featured businesses will increase the discount they offer by an additional 10 percent that week only. In return they will receive an advertisement in both the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon News and Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent promoting their business. Consumers can easily identify which businesses are members of the program by a distinguishable Shop Local sticker displayed at participating locations, listed on posters at each participating location as well as the chamber office and promoted through the weekly broadcast e-mail. The program is designed to stimulate local spending in the quietest time of the year from June through October, therefore, the discount card is only valid during that time period.

The Apache Junction Chamber, Apache Junction/Gold Canyon News and the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent will take care of all the costs incurred, including the production of the cards, maintaining the database and marketing of the program. As a business your only obligation is to simply honor the discount you agree to, and maintain a membership with the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce. If you ever decide that you would no longer like to participate in the program, you can simply revoke your membership in the program in October once the program term has ended for that year.

The goal of this program is all about getting businesses to support locals and locals to support businesses. Even the discount cards themselves were produced by an Apache Junction printing company. We firmly believe that this Shop Local program will be mutually beneficial for both the residents and the businesses and the Apache Junction Chamber and our partners are excited to launch the program.
