Rezonings April 9 before P&Z for U-Haul, Smoketree-Warner neighborhood

Rezoning 50 acres on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 60 and Idaho Road in part for a U-Haul business and rezoning 41 lots in the Smoketree-Warner Neighborhood are to be discussed at the April 9 meeting of the Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council Chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.

Items on the agenda are:

  • A presentation, discussion, public hearing and consideration of rezoning case PZ-2-18 by Amerco Real Estate Co. and U-Haul International LLC, represented by David Pollock, proposing to rezone approximately 50 acres of a vacant 78-acre property at the southeast corner of U.S. 60 and South Idaho Road to light industrial/business park by planned development; and proposing to amend the plan of development for additional property.
  • A presentation, discussion, public hearing and consideration of case PZ-2-19, a city-initiated corrective rezoning of the Smoketree-Warner Neighborhood to medium/high density single family detached residential. The neighborhood has 41 lots bounded by West Foothill Street, North Desert View Drive, West Smoketree Street and North Warner Drive.
  • A presentation and discussion on the city’s code of conduct by the city attorney.
