Segments of Meridian Drive on the west edge of Apache Junction are closed during the late night hours this week as part of a road construction project.

From May 11 to May 15, Meridian Drive is being repaved from Southern Avenue to Lost Dutchman Boulevard through a partnership between the city of Apache Junction and Maricopa County Department of Transportation, according to a press release.

The closures are occurring in half-mile to 1-mile segments beginning at Southern and progressing north to Lost Dutchman. The closures are in effect from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. nightly. Delays are expected for local traffic accessing driveways and side streets.

Construction is expected to be completed by early June. During construction, delays should be expected along Meridian Drive. Ironwood Drive and Signal Butte Road can be used as alternate north-south routes during the construction.

Construction-related questions can be directed to MCDOT at 602-506-3342.
