Memorial Day ceremonies will be held at two Mesa cemeteries on Monday, May 25, to remember all those who have gone on before us, especially those who served in our military. East Valley residents are invited to attend.
They are:
•at 9 a.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St. (Apache Trail) in Mesa. It begins with a military flyover from the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force from Falcon Field Airport. Snacks and refreshments to follow the service. For information, call 480-832-2850.
•at 9:30 a.m. at Mariposa Gardens, 6747 E. Broadway Road. Directly before the service there will be a flyover of the EAA Warbirds, World War II-vintage airplanes. The program will include an inspirational message, music and the laying of a wreath at a veterans columbarium. The service concludes with the release of white doves. Refreshments will be served following the program. All are welcome to attend. More than 100 U.S. flags will be in the Avenue of Flags. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be on-site from noon to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-733-2767.
