City of Apache Junction to host next blood drive April 9 at city hall

The city of Apache Junction will sponsor a blood drive from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, through the United Blood Services. The event will take place at the Bloodmobile in the Apache Junction City Hall parking lot, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.

Donors are reminded to bring a photo ID and are encouraged to drink plenty of water and eat a light meal prior to donating, according to a press release.

To better regulate the donation process, participants are asked to call Debra Crawford at 480-474-2617 or e-mail her at dcrawford@ajcity.net to set up an appointment.

While the appointment can take up to 50 minutes, the actual donation time is approximately five to 10 minutes. Potential donors will be asked a series of questions to determine his or her eligibility to participate.

For eligibility questions, call 1-800-288-2199 ext. 5497.

To schedule an appointment online, visit www.bloodhero.com and enter sponsor code CityofAJ.

The Apache Junction Independent is mailed each month to 35,000 homes.
