Apache Junction Unified School District offers free summer food service program

This summer, the Apache Junction Unified School District will partner with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to offer free breakfasts and lunches to children age 18 and younger at three locations in Apache Junction. Additionally, children will receive a raffle ticket each time they have lunch through the summer program. On July 17, five tickets will be drawn to award the lucky winners one of five prizes:  boy’s bike, soccer ball, football, basketball or a four-pack of tickets to AMC Theaters.

AJUSD’s USDA Summer Food Program will provide free, nutritious meals to all children the following locations.  Cactus Canyon Junior High School, 801 W. Southern Ave., on June 8-July 17, Monday Friday. Breakfast will be served 7:30 a.m -8:30 a.m., and lunch 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The Boys & Girls Club of Apache Junction, 1755 N. Idaho Road will be serving meals from May 26 to July 31, Monday-Friday . Breakfast will be served 9:00-9:45 a.m., lunch 12:00-1:00 p.m. Superstition Mountain Elementary School 550 S. Ironwood Drive, will be serving June 1-June 12, Monday-Friday. Breakfast will be served from 9:00-9:30 a.m., and  lunch from 11:00 a.m though 12:30 p.m. Also at Sonoma Valley Apartments 975 S. Royal Palm, June 1 through Aug. 7, Monday-Friday lunch will be served at 11 a.m.-12:30 p. m.

All children are eligible for free meals regardless of age or family income. Enrollment at an AJUSD school is not required. Everyone is welcome! Adult meals may be purchased onsite for $1.60/breakfast, $2.75/lunch. Only one free meal will be provided per child, per visit, and all food must be consumed on site.
