Kyra Ehrlich, an Apache Junction High School senior, received two scholarships that will help pay for tuition to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

She recently received notice that she received the Presidential Scholarship ($14,000) as well as a Women of Excellence Award ($5,000) for a total award amount of $19,000. The scholarships are renewable for four years as long as she maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher, according to a release.

Kyra attended a flight camp on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University last summer, which sparked her interest in aviation and aerospace. She is enrolled and will be attending the Daytona, Florida, campus in August majoring in aeronautical science.

“I can’t wait for what lays ahead,” Kyra said in the release. “The scholarship money will help me with the expenses of attending school, as well as the additional cost of flight time.”

Kyra has been active in school during her years as a Prospector. She is a student council executive and a member of Leo Club, National Honor Society and an athlete who competed in swim, cross country, soccer and track and field.
