The Apache Junction Mounted Rangers presented a $750 check earlier this month at the Royalty Court Fundraiser and Chili Cookoff.

The donation at the Sunday, Oct. 21, event will go toward new tack, sashes and equipment the royalty court queen and princesses need during the year.

The event took place at the P&M Arena.

Money is still needed for the cause and those who would like to help with a contribution or supplies can contact Teresa Myers at 480-532-9383.

The Apache Junction Mounted Rangers is a nonprofit organization that supports children and youth organizations “by providing safety measures at various community events,” according to the group’s website.

The AJ Mounted Rangers also have contributed financial support to a variety of efforts over the years.

Since 1995, more than $400,000 has been given back to the community, the website stated.

The Apache Junction Independent publishes a daily newsletter and website. A print edition is mailed each month to 35,000 homes.
