‘Keys to Kindergarten’ offered by Apache Junction Unified School District for parents, children May 7

Apache Junction Unified School District is offering an informative evening for parents and children 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, all three elementary schools, according to a press release.
At “Keys to Kindergarten,” parents and children have the opportunity to visit the campus, meet the teachers and ask lots of questions.
“Keys to Kindergarten” will be offered at Desert Vista Elementary, 3701 E. Broadway Ave., in Apache Junction; Four Peaks Elementary, 1785 N. Idaho Road, in Apache Junction; and Peralta Trail Elementary, 10965 E. Peralta Road, in Gold Canyon.
All children enrolling in kindergarten should also attend a screening between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m on Tuesday, May 19, at your child’s school. Screenings should take approximately 20 minutes and do not require an appointment. All incoming kindergarten students are screened to determine their individual needs.
By policy, kindergarten students should be 5 years of age by Aug. 31; however, if a child’s birthday is on or after Sept. 1, and before Dec. 31, the child may be screened for possible early entrance into kindergarten. Parents will be notified the week following the screening if their child was accepted for early entrance.
