Free Childhood Screening at Apache Junction Child Find

The Apache Junction Unified School District (AJUSD), in partnership with Apache Junction Head Start, Early Head Start, and the Arizona Early Intervention Program, will offer families free screenings for children from birth through the age of five at the Apache Junction Child Find, Wednesday, June 10th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the AJUSD District Office Board Room, 1575 W. Southern Ave. Parents can get information on where their child measures developmentally with other children their age, learn of any challenges their child may face, as well as the resources available to meet them. Families can also learn more about childcare and preschool options, and answer their questions about kindergarten registration. Other services and information available free of charge are:
• Hearing and vision screenings
• Dental and pediatric information
• Developmental screenings for children from birth to age five
• Childcare and preschool information
• Vendors and activities
The developmental screenings will consist of approximately 30-minutes of activities designed to assess a child’s hearing, vision, communication, cognitive and motor skills, and self-care development. The AJUSD is partnering with several other agencies in the community to sponsor this service including the Head Start. For more information, call 480-982-1110, ext. 2043.

The Apache Junction Independent is mailed each month to 35,000 homes.
