AJHS cheer team raises money to help fight breast cancer

The Apache Junction High School varsity cheer team recognized October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month by conducting its homecoming Pink Out T-shirt fundraiser.

The girls donated $217 — $1 for each of the 217 T-shirts sold — to the Phoenix chapter of the American Cancer Society to use for breast-cancer research, according to a press release.

Cheer team members are (not in order in photo): Ashli Albertsen, Kaylin Bullard, Alana Cheek, Kyra Cook, Sabrina Dubek, Ally Inlow, Alexys Jackson, Ashley Johnson, Gabriella Komashko, Brooklyn Ochoa, Natalie Simoes, Gina Tortorella, Angelique Winn, Shea Wolfe and Sayna Yung.
