“Karl Hermann is a very talented teacher in our district, but he is also a dedicated band parent and our Volunteer of the Month,” Cactus Canyon Junior High principal Courtney Castelhano said. “When he isn’t working full time teaching music, he is helping the Cactus Canyon band with concerts and trips. He has helped out chaperoning at the concerts, in the warm-up room, and chaperoning field trips such as the annual Arizona State Fair trip. He has led the CCJH Marching Band through a parade when the director had a commitment out of town and has also offered a free drum camp during the summer! He is a valuable asset to our district and our music program at CCJH!”

“I would like to recognize Jodi Rodgers for our Classified [non-teacher] Employee of the Month,” stated Cactus Canyon Junior High Principal Courtney Castelhano. “If you have ever talked with Jodi either on the phone or in person, you will know why she is so amazing. Jodi has worked as the student service’s secretary now at Cactus Canyon for four years in the front office. Jodi always has a smile on her face and is always ready to help with anything. She makes both staff and students feel important in the moment that she is helping, or supporting, or just talking with you. Whether it is a student coming into see the nurse or dropping off the attendance, her enthusiasm makes students, staff, and parents feel welcomed and loved.”

Cactus Canyon Junior High Principal Courtney Castelhano recognized Rachel Mangum as the Certified Employee of the Month. “Rachel is a magical teacher, and a huge part of the success we are seeing this year with the math department at Cactus Canyon. She has this amazing ability to break down learning in engaging ways for students. She teaches students to persevere, and the students who work with her have grown tremendously in math and feel successful. Moreover, Rachel is always willing to share resources and help other teachers provide creative and engaging strategies for students.
