Lots of closures on freeways this weekend. Look out!

Freeway-improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (Aug. 7-10). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

 

  • Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed overnight at Priest Drive from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 8) for sign work. Westbound Loop 202 closed overnight at Center Parkway/Priest Drive from 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 8) for sign work. DETOUR: Traffic will detour along off- and on-ramps.

 

  • East- and southbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Recker and Broadway and roads in east Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 10) for widening project. DETOUR: Alternate routes include eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Consider using Power and McKellips roads.

 

  • Westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane in areas between Hayden Road and Tatum Boulevard and southbound Loop 101 narrowed to one lane in areas between Hayden Road and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 8) for pavement-marker installation. Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) narrowed to one lane in areas between Williams Field and Gilbert roads and eastbound Loop 202 narrowed to one lane in areas between Gilbert and Hawes roads from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 9) for maintenance. Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane overnight in areas between Pioneer and New River roads from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 10) for maintenance. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes if possible. Allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safely in work zones.

 

  • Westbound Loop 101 narrowed to two lanes overnight between Tatum Boulevard and Cave Creek Road from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 10) for ramp-construction project. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zones.

 

  • Northwest-bound Grand Avenue (US 60) closed overnight between 57th Drive and Glendale Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 8) for lighting work in underpass. Southeast-bound Grand Avenue (US 60) closed overnight between Myrtle and Glendale avenues from 9 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 9) for lighting work. DETOUR: Traffic will detour on local streets.

 

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Tucson) narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Riggs Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 8), 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 9) and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 10) for pavement work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.

 

  • Country Club Drive (SR 87) closed in both directions at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) from 5 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 9) for bridge work. Dobson Road closed in both directions at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 8) for bridge work. DETOUR: Consider using Alma School Road.
