The campus of Apache Junction High School, 2525 S. Ironwood Drive, will transform into a showcase of music, dance, comedy acts, dramatic vignettes, visual arts and more for the AJUSD Student Showcase 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

The public is invited to attend this free event and show their support for budding K-12 student artists and performers in the district’s five schools. Performing arts acts begin at 10 a.m. but visual arts exhibits will be on display by 9 a.m.

Dr. Krista Anderson

“We are excited to showcase our students’ talents and provide a joyful exchange that helps connect us to our community,” Dr. Krista Anderson, superintendent of Apache Junction Unified School District, said in a release.

“Education is more than preparing for a career; it’s about helping students tap into their many talents so they can develop the unique skills they will need to lead happy, responsible and productive lives.”

This is the first year of the talent show and acts will include — but are not be limited to — solo musicians, singers and dancers, as well as performances by school choral groups, bands, orchestras, and dance groups.

Attendees will also be encouraged to learn more about the school’s programs, try their hand at creating their own artwork and chat with students and staff about the arts programs at AJUSD.

The food truck Luna Street Tacos and Hot Dogs is confirmed to sell at the event and one or two other food trucks are to also be on site.
