Fatman’s Pizza celebrates 15th anniversary

Pete and Peggy Jacobs, owners of Fatman’s Pizza, 2340 W. Apache Trail in Apache Junction, on May 15 celebrated 15 years in business in Apache Junction.

“Not many restaurants in AJ can make that claim,” Mr. Jacobs said.

He owned several restaurants in Chicago prior to relocating to Apache Junction. He never intended to open a restaurant when he moved here. But not finding any true Chicago pizza in the area, he decided to open Fatman’s Pizza to fill the void.
Fatman’s Pizza is an authentic Chicago pizza restaurant, Mr. Jacobs said.

“I still order all my meats and cheeses from my suppliers in Chicago and Wisconsin. This assures my recipes are exactly like I made in Chicago,” Mr. Jacobs said.

Fatman’s Pizza moved to 2430 W. Apache Trail No. 2 three years ago. A full menu of Italian food, chicken wings and sandwiches is available. Mr. Jacobs smokes the meats in-house for the ribs and pulled-pork dishes offered on the menu. The restaurant is decorated with exclusively Chicago pictures, posters and memorabilia, including a life-size sculpture of Al Capone. Fatman’s also delivers. The summer hours are 4-9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. For more information, call 480-671-9897 or go to http://fatmanspizzaandgrill.com.
