We’re in dire need of your old cell phones.
Our deadline for the Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive is May 22 and we’re nowhere close to our goal of 1,500 phones.
How can you help?:
•Drop off your old cell phones at the ABA’s offices in Phoenix or Tucson by May 22. They are at 1825 W. Adams in Phoenix; and 1661 N. Swan Suite No. 144 in Tucson.
•Place a collection box in your office. Print an 8.5×11-inch box poster at http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/resources/2015/CPFS_Flier.pdf.
Cell Phones For Soldiers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with tax ID No. 20-1343425. Contributions may be deductible for income-tax purposes to the extent allowed by law. Valuations of Gifts in Kind are the privilege and responsibility of the donor. It is a national organization that aims to help the 150,000 troops serving overseas keep in touch with their loved ones.
The ABA solicited donations of old cell phones from ABA-member companies and the general public, which resulted in the collection of just over 1,300 phones last year. The donated phones were sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each phone, money that is used to purchase prepaid calling cards that are then sent to our troops.
The 1,300 donated phones resulted in approximately 39,000 minutes of free calling time. The current average rate for calling the U.S. from Afghanistan or Iraq is $4 per minute.
Our goal this year is to collect 1,500 cell phones.
