Outdoor venue, school district meetings on Apache Junction City Council agenda

The Apache Junction City Council will hold a regular meeting starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Apache Junction City Hall, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.
That night’s agenda includes the following:
•A public hearing for the consideration of approval of Resolution No. 15-08, approving or denying a conditional use permit to allow Mehmood Mohiuddin of The Hitching Post restaurant, 2341 N. Apache Trail in Apache Junction, to conduct various outdoor entertainment activities such as concerts, gun fight shows, outdoor games and other similar activities on his properties at the southeast corner area of East Lost Dutchman Boulevard and North Apache Trail. The CUP would include parking accommodations for the events and activities.
This item was continued from the March 17 city council meeting to allow time for Mr. Mohiuddin to meet with residents who live within 300 feet of the venue and who had written the city to oppose the outdoor events.
•Direction to city staff on dates, times and locations for joint meetings with the Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board. As scheduled for consideration at the April 20 work session, the meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss the use of district facilities, shared use of jointly developed facilities and joint programs and partnered activities.
•Consideration of Resolution No. 15-11, approving and authorizing an interfund balance loan in an amount not to exceed $10 million for roadway improvements; authorizing the taking of all other actions necessary to consummate the transaction contemplated by this resolution; and declaring an emergency.
•Consideration of a proposed contract with Cutler Repaving, Inc. for Phase Two of Apache Trail road improvements in an amount not to exceed $1,949,086.94.
The Apache Junction City Council typically meets in regular session at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month in the council chambers. Agendas may be viewed online at https://apachejunction.legistar.com.
