Members of the Superstition Mountain Elementary School Parent/Teacher Organization were offered by the Independent the opportunity to write a letter to the school and state in 25 words or less what the school meant to them. Here are their responses. Parents who would like to write a letter can still e-mail them to email@example.com. They will be posted on the newspaper’s website at http://apachejunctionindependent.com.
Editor’s note: Some letters have been edited for spelling or length.
Thank you for the wonderful four years. You have been an amazing asset to my daughter’s learning, and the Special Education Enrichment Room program is the best program that was ever created for our special ed kids. Thank you.
My name is Glenda Danison and I wanted to say how great SMES school is, specially with special needs kids. I am going to be sad to see the school go. I have three grandkids who go there. All of the preschool teachers are great. So is the office staff and all the teachers who have worked with my grandson. We will be really sad when SMES closes the door, my grandsons and daughters also.
I feel fortunate to have played a role as volunteer in the classrooms, the Miners PTO and then later joining the staff at SMES where my two daughters attended from pre-K on. Thanks to all.
Education is near and dear to my heart. My kids Aliyah (Mrs. Young’s class) and Alijah Scott (Mrs. Rabe’s), who are 5-year-old twins, would not be able to read, write their name, spell, count, add and subtract (with help Alijah is better than Aliyah in this area) and articulate if it wasn’t for SMES preschool and kindergarten. They both have special needs because they were born seven weeks early and I did not know they were at risk of having cognitive delays. I didn’t start their intervention until they were 4. It is marvelous what SMES has done for my children.
