By policy, kindergarten students should be 5 years of age by Aug. 31; however, if a child’s birthday this year is on or after Sept. 1, and before Dec. 31, the child may be screened for possible early entrance into kindergarten, according to a press release. Parents will be notified the week following the screening if their child was accepted for early entrance.
To register a student in an Apache Junction school for the first time, the following items are required: a certified copy of the student’s birth certificate, a current immunization record and proof of residency. Parents must also complete a registration form and an emergency medical referral card.
Immunizations are available from family physicians or pediatricians. The Pinal County Public Health Clinics also offer all required and recommended childhood immunizations, free, for children under the age of 18 and available on a walk-in basis during regular hours.
